The Houston Dash signed midfielder Amber Marshall to a one-year contract through the 2021 season, the Club announced today.
The Syracuse, Utah native joins the Dash after spending the preseason with the team as a trialist.
In her decorated three-year collegiate career at Utah State, Marshall served as the Aggies’ anchor in the midfield, playing as a holding mid throughout most of her career. Marshall totaled 49 career shots with two goals and two assists. Marshall was named second-team All-Mountain West in 2019; and she appeared and started in every match for the Aggies throughout her career from 2017 to 2020 with 74 starts in 74 appearances. Marshall did not play her fourth collegiate season in Fall 2020 due to COVID-19.
In the summer of 2019, Marshall joined the Utah Royals FC Reserves team in their inaugural season in the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) under head coach Amy . Marshall scored two goals for the Royals and helped the team finish as runners-up in the 2019 season.
The Dash now have 25 players on their active roster ahead of the 2021 NWSL season. Houston is set to kick off their title defense on April 9 when they welcome the Chicago Red Stars to BBVA Stadium for the opening game of the 2021 NWSL Challenge Cup presented by Secret Deodorant. The match is set to begin at 7:30 p.m. CDT and will be aired live on CBS Sports Network.
