Tonight's Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Quarterfinal against FC Dallas at BBVA Compass Stadium (7:15 p.m.) puts the Houston Dynamo just three wins away from a third major trophy in the club's history.
After entering in the Fourth Round of the annual knockout tournament, the Dynamo recorded wins over San Antonio FC and reigning Open Cup champions Sporting Kansas City to reach the quarterfinals for the fifth time in team history. Since tonight is an elimination game, it cannot end in a tie. If the match ends level in regulation, two 15-minute overtime periods will be played. If it's still tied after extra time, a penalty kick shootout will determine who advances to the semifinals.
With a win, the Dynamo would take on the winner of LA Galaxy vs. Seattle Sounders (9:30 p.m.). On the other side of the bracket, the winner of the Chicago Fire vs. Ft. Lauderdale Strikers (7:30 p.m.) will face the winner of New England Revolution vs. Philadelphia Union (6:30 p.m.). All matches will be live streamed on YouTube.
The hosting scenarios for those semifinal matches and the Priority Draw to determine the host of the Final will be determined by U.S. Soccer on Thursday at 10 a.m. The draws will be broadcast live from U.S. Soccer's YouTube page and live tweeted at @opencup.
On the line for the winner of the U.S. Open Cup, aside from the trophy, is a spot in the 2017-18 CONCACAF Champions League and a $250,000 cash prize. The runner-ups receive $60,000.
