Dynamo Academy U-16s drawn in Group C for Development Academy Playoffs

The Houston Dynamo Academy U-16s learned their opponents for the 2017 U.S. Soccer Development Academy Playoffs via a blind draw on Wednesday afternoon.


The Dynamo Academy were drawn into Group C along with fellow MLS academies from Vancouver Whitecaps FC, the Philadelphia Union, and LA Galaxy. The Dynamo finished fifth in the Frontier Division with a 13-7-6 record (45 points), but earned a playoff spot as the seventh of 11 wildcard teams with their 1.7308 points per game average.


Vancouver won the Northwest Division title with a 20-9-2 record (2 ppg), outscoring their opponents 84-28. The LA Galaxy's 20-8-8 record (1.8889 ppg) gave them the third and final guaranteed playoff spot from the Southwest Division. The Union took the third spot from the Atlantic Division with a 14-6-6 record (1.8462 ppg).


The Development Academy playoffs group stage takes place June 22-26 at Grand Park in Westview, Indiana. The eight group winners advance to the knockout round (hosted by the higher seed) on July 6, with those winners advancing to the Development Academy Championships in Carson, California on July 14-16.
