Tigres holds a 2-0 aggregate advantage as they host the second leg of the Concacaf Champions League quarterfinals against the Dynamo. The Dynamo must win by two or more goals to advance to the semifinal round. Another 2-0 result in favor of Houston would result in penalty kicks to determine who advances, while scorelines of 3-1, 4-2, etc. would put the Dynamo through on the away goals tiebreaker.

The first leg on March 5 was tightly contested for the first 75 minutes or so with both teams patient in their build-up and not risking much in the attack. Tigres struck twice within three minutes Julian Quiñones assisted Enner Valencia's goal in the 78th minute, then Valencia found Quiñones in the 81st minute for a strike off the underside of the crossbar.

Houston Dynamo

  • Last Tuesday's defeat to Tigres is the only blemish on Houston's record so far in 2019, after two wins against C.D. Guastatoya in the CCL Round of 16 and a draw and win in the team's first two MLS matches.

Tigres UANL

  • Tigres are tied for the Liga MX lead after a hard-fought 1-1 draw in the Clasico Regio against Monterrey on Saturday. They have not lost since a 1-0 defeat to Saprissa in the first leg of the CCL Round of 16 on Feb. 19.
  • The hosts look to once again be without star striker AndrĂ©-Pierre Gignac as he nurses a knee injury.
