Houston Dynamo defender Kiki Struna was named to the MLS Team of the Week, presented by Audi, earlier today after his Week 1 performance against the LA Galaxy last Saturday at BBVA Stadium.
The defender finished with seven clearances on Saturday and won all six of his duels against the Galaxy. Struna played a key role in limiting Galaxy forward Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez to one shot and losing possession 11 times in his MLS debut at BBVA Stadium. Offensively, the Slovenian international was a presence inside the Galaxy half of the field as he recovered the ball six times and completed 46 of a team-high 62 passes (81 percent accuracy).
This is the second time the defender has earned Team of the Week honors. Struna was named to the team after making his MLS debut in the 2-1 Dynamo victory over the Montreal Impact on March 9, 2019.
The Dynamo return to KUBE 57 on Saturday as they travel to the Midwest to face Sporting Kansas City at 7:30 p.m. Houston returns to BBVA Stadium on March 14 to host the reigning MLS Cup champions, Seattle Sounders FC.
