September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month! The Houston Dynamo and Dash along with MD Anderson Cancer Center have partnered together to help raise awareness and honor some amazing pediatric cancer patients in the city of Houston.
Each September the Dynamo and Dash help drive awareness of Childhood Cancer and support Major Leagues Soccer’s Kick Childhood Cancer Initiative. This year both the Houston Dynamo and Dash participate in a variety of activities with patients at MD Anderson Cancer Center including art classes, bingo games and our yearly announcement of our Honorary Dynamo Team members.
HONORARY STARTING XI
While things had to look a little different this year, we were proud to welcome 11 pediatric cancer patients as honorary team members to the Houston Dynamo squad for the month of September. Prior to the match on September 5th the Dynamo starting XI wore the last names of these kiddos on their jerseys for an honorary team photo. The jersey’s were then signed by each player and delivered to the kids along with their Dynamo contracts.
MESSAGE OF HOPE
Submit a message of hope using #KickChildhoodCancer on social media channels. For every post that uses the hashtag, Continental Tire will donate $25 to fund pediatric cancer research (up to $50,000) during the month of September. Your messages will also be used to produce customized blankets and scarves. Both items will be distributed to pediatric cancer patients during the holiday season.
Our Houston Dynamo had the chance to recognize 11 pediatric cancer patients on gameday and welcome them to the squad as honorary team members of the Houston Dynamo for the month of September. Now you have the opportunity to get to know each of the members of this incredible Honorary Starting XI.
