MANSFIELD, Texas (Sept. 9, 2026) – 10-man Houston Dynamo 2 rallied with two goals in the span of ten minutes in second half stoppage time to earn a dramatic 3-2 comeback victory at North Texas SC earlier this evening. Attacker Samir Mohammad played a key role in the comeback, contributing to both goals in the dying moments of the match.
With tonight’s result, Dynamo 2 set a single-season team record for points in a season with 51 points, surpassing the previous record of 49 points during the team's inaugural season in 2022.
Houston played the final 38 minutes with 10 men after forward Arthur Sousa received his second yellow card of the match following a foul in the 52nd minute mark.
North Texas took the lead in the 14th minute after Nicholas Simmonds converted from the penalty spot. The penalty was awarded after defensive midfielder Vitor André was deemed to have handled the ball while attempting to block a shot.
Dynamo 2 leveled the match in the 30th minute following a quick combination play between André, attacker Mattheo Dimareli and Sousa. The play began with André intercepting a pass from the hosts before pushing the ball forward and finding Dimareli, who quickly played Sousa through on goal. The Brazilian striker dribbled into the box, cut to his left and finished for his sixth goal of the season. The assist marked Dimareli’s first of the year.
The FC Dallas affiliate retook the lead in the 75th minute when Edouard Nys found the back of the net with a right-footed strike from outside the box.
Mohammad scored the equalizer for Houston in the first minute of second half stoppage time after faking out a defender to his left before cutting back to his right foot and finding the back of the net for his third goal of the season. Forward Alan Martins earned the assist on the play, finding Mohammad in the center of the box for his first assist of the year.
Ten minutes later, Mohammad was on the ball again, dribbling past the North Texas defender before delivering a low-driven cross to striker Austin Brummett at the far post to complete the remarkable comeback, scoring the late stoppage-time match winner and his 11th goal of the season.
Dynamo 2 generated a dangerous chance in the eighth minute when Mohammad faked out a North Texas defender and found Sousa inside the box for a header that sailed over the crossbar.
Dynamo Academy goalkeeper Roman Kerimov was called into action in the 20th minute, getting low to safely secure a long-distance shot from Edouard Nys. The shot stopper finished the night with five saves.
Midfielder D’Alessandro Herrera tried his luck from outside the box in the 37th minute with a powerful right-footed effort that forced the North Texas goalkeeper Eryk Dymora to dive low to his left.
