Houston Dynamo 2 closed a two-game road trip with a 3-0 loss to Austin FC II in the state capital earlier this evening. Both teams won their meetings at home this season with Dynamo 2 earning three points on May 28 with a 2-0 victory at SaberCats Stadium.

Austin took the lead in the final minute of the first half off a cross from Christopher Pinkham that found CJ Fodrey at the far post. The home team doubled their lead in the 56th minute off a cross from Fodrey toward the near post and Sebastian Pineau was able to beat a defender to the ball for the second goal of the game. Austin scored the final goal of the game off a set piece in the 79th minute.

Dynamo 2 goalkeeper Andrew Pannenberg came off his line in the 10th minute to deny Pineau at the near post. The Dynamoshot stopper finished with five saves against Austin this evening.

Houston’s first shot on goal came six minutes later off the right foot of midfielder Diego Gonzalez. The Dynamo capitalized on a turnover outside the box and forward Yair Gonzalez played the ball back to the top of the box for the Dynamo Academy product, but his effort was handled at the near post.

Yair Gonzalez kept play alive moments later after dribbling away from pressure and funneling the ball out wide. Defender Isaiah LeFlore whipped in a cross that found defender Tate Lampman, but his header went over the crossbar. Lampman will represent the Dynamo Academy at the MLS NEXT All-Star Game in Washington D.C. later this month. The 16-year-old earned his third start of the season tonight.

Midfielder Charles Auguste had a clean look at goal in the 24th minute following a corner kick that was flicked back to the far post, but his effort went over the crossbar.

Pannenberg was called into action in the 27th minute after a corner kick fell to Pinkham at the edge of the box. His effort skipped toward the near post into the arms of the Dynamo shot stopper.

Houston nearly capitalized on a free kick in the 32nd minute that was flicked to the back post by Lampman, but defender Mujeeb Murana just missed the inside of the near post.

Defender Jathan Juarez made a key defensive play in the final minutes of the first half to halt a counterattack at the top of the box.

Yair Gonzalez forced a save at the near post in the 71st minute at the near post with a shot from outside the box. Diego Gonzalez found LeFlore at the far post minutes later, but his header was off target.

Dynamo Dos return to SaberCats Stadium on Sunday, July 16 to host North Texas SC at 6 p.m. CT. That is the first of two home games for Dynamo 2 who host Minnesota on July 23.
