Houston Dynamo 2 closed a two-game road trip with a 4-1 loss to Tacoma Defiance earlier today at Starfire Sports. It was Dynamo 2’s first defeat of the season, ending their run as the lone unbeaten team in MLS NEXT Pro this season.

The first goal of the game came in the 26th minute, after Tacoma drew a foul outside the box. The initial free kick was whipped into the box where Houston made two goal-line clearances before Abdoulaye Cissoko tapped the ball into the back of the net.

Tacoma doubled their lead in the 53rd minute, as they proceeded up the right wing using a passing combination that ended with a cross from Joe Hafferty into the box for Alfonso Ocampo-Chavez. Tacoma extended their lead to 3-0 after Cissoko converted a penalty kick for his second goal of the match.

Dynamo 2 got on the board in the 80th minute, as forward Beto Avila sent in a cross that went just in front of the Tacoma goal. Tacoma’s goalkeeper got his mitts on the ball, but knocked it directly to forward Papa N’Doye, who scored his third goal of the season.

Valentin Sabella got in behind Houston’s defense on a breakaway in the fourth minute of added time to cap off the scoring.

Midfielder Marcelo Palomino nearly had his second free kick goal of the season in the 40th minute, as he drew the foul outside of the 18-yard-box on the left side of the goal and unleashed a curler that was heading for the upper corner of the goal, but was saved by the Tacoma goalkeeper.

The team will return home from their two-game road trip when they face Colorado Rapids 2 at AVEVA Stadium at 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 8. For tickets and additional information, visit HoustonDynamoFC.com.
