Houston Dynamo 2 travel to Rock Chalk Park on Friday to face Sporting KC II for the third and final time during the regular season. Houston looks to split the two-game series on the road after losing to Sporting KC II on April 14.

Dynamo 2 opened this three-game road trip with a draw against Portland Timbers 2 at Providence Park on May 31. Forward Gabe Segal scored Houston’s lone goal in the match, his first for Dynamo 2 this season. Segal scored the equalizer from a set piece after winning a foul outside the box in the first half. This is the forward’s second goal of the year for the organization. He scored the equalizer in Houston’s 1-1 draw with Sporting Kansas City at Shell Energy Stadium in February.

Defensively, goalkeeper Nico Hansen finished with nine saves against Timbers 2 last Friday. Hansen’s performance against the Timbers set a new regular season high for the team and nearly doubled the previous mark of five saves in a single game.

Jeferson Medina made his MLS NEXT Pro debut last Friday and he joined the team toward the end of May on loan from Fortaleza CEIF in Colombia. The 18-year-old has also represented Colombia at the youth national team level, most recently during the qualification micro-cycles ahead of the 2023 CONMEBOL U-17 Championship. The defender finished with seven recoveries against Timbers 2 last week.

Five Dynamo Academy players or alums took part in Friday’s match against Timbers 2 at Providence Park. Among them was Dynamo 2 captain Diego Gonzalez, who nearly tallied an assist in the final moments of the match with a cross into the heart of the box. Gonzalez has tallied three assists this season, the second highest mark on the team.

Sporting KC II enter with a 6-3-2 (WLD) record and currently sit fifth in the Western Conference standings. They defeated Minnesota United FC 2 on Sunday to extend their winning streak to three games. The offense is led by Kamron Habibullah and Beto Avila, who combine for 13 goals and seven assists. Ryan Schewe has been the anchor in goal for Sporting KC II and holds a 5-2-2 record when starting this season.

Dynamo 2 return to SaberCats Stadium on June 23 when they host Colorado Rapids 2 at 7:00 p.m. CT. Tickets for that match and all Dynamo Dos matches at SaberCats Stadium are free and available HERE.
