HOUSTON (May 9, 2025) – Houston Dynamo 2 played Colorado Rapids 2 to a scoreless draw at SaberCats Stadium earlier this evening and claimed two points after Colorado missed their fifth and final penalty attempt, securing Houston’s first shootout victory of the campaign.
Notably, the result in regulation marked Dynamo Dos’ second clean sheet of the season, backed by four saves from goalkeeper Pedro Cruz, who was recently named the MLS NEXT Pro Goalkeeper of the Month for April.
Forward Andy Batioja had Houston’s first dangerous chance in the third minute with a right-footed shot from the middle of the box that forced goalkeeper Zack Campagnolo to get low and make the save.
Midfielder Enrique Correa took his chances from deep in the 29th minute with a powerful strike that missed just high to the right.
Cruz was called into action in the 42nd minute when Alex Harris fired a shot from inside the box that forced the Brazilian to get low and safely secure the ball.
Correa found forward Stephen Annor in the box in the 46th minute for a header that found the hands of Campagnolo.
Midfielder Noah Betancourt fired a right-footed shot from outside the box in the 61st minute that sailed just over the crossbar.
Cruz was called into action again in the 71st minute, diving to his right and blocking away a shot from Kimani Stewart-Baynes at the near post.
Dynamo 2 next travels north of Texas to face in-state rivals North Texas SC on Sunday, May 18 at Choctaw Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT. Fans can follow the action live on MLSNEXTPro.com.
