MANSFIELD, Texas (Sept. 13, 2026)Houston Dynamo 2 played in-state rivals North Texas SC to a scoreless road draw at Mansfield Stadium tonight, earning another point and posting their ninth clean sheet of the season behind four saves from goalkeeper Logan Erb in regulation.

North Texas won the ensuing penalty shootout 4-3, but Houston has already secured a top four Western Conference spot and is guaranteed to host a home match in the MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs Conference Quarterfinals.

The hosts were awarded a penalty in the 15th minute after defender Daniel Barrett was deemed to have fouled Caleb Swann in the penalty box. However, Nicholas Simmonds pulled his penalty attempt that bounced off the left post and out of play, helped by Erb diving in the correct direction.

Forward Mattheo Dimareli created a dangerous chance for Houston in the 28th minute, curling a shot just over the crossbar after defender Noah Betancourt found him in the center of the penalty box.

Erb was called into action in the 35th minute when Edouard Nys took his chances from the edge of the box, but the young shot stopper dove down to his left to block the curling shot and send the ball away from danger.

Erb stepped up again in the 80th minute, reaching high with a quick-reaction save to send Diego Garcia’s shot over the crossbar to keep the match scoreless.

Dynamo 2 return home to host Sporting Kansas City II for a Decision Day matchup on Sunday, Sept. 20, with kickoff scheduled for 4:00 p.m. CT at SaberCats Stadium. Fans can secure their free tickets for the match HERE.
