THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. (June 6, 2026) – Houston Dynamo 2 fell 3-1 to Ventura County FC earlier this evening, marking their first loss of the 2026 season and snapping their 11-game unbeaten streak, the longest undefeated streak to start an MLS NEXT Pro in Club history. Defender Vinicius Silva scored Houston’s lone goal of the match.
Notably, during their 11-match undefeated run to open the 2026 season, Houston recorded 31 points, 20 assists and 28 goals, while leading in fewest goals conceded in open play (four) during that stretch. Despite tonight’s result, Dynamo 2 still leads the league with just eight goals conceded overall.
Ventura took the lead in the 48th minute when Dylan Vanney found Julian Placias in the box for a header towards the top right corner. They then doubled their lead in the 53rd minute when Gabriel Arnold found the bottom right corner with a right-footed shot. 10 minutes later, Ventura extended their lead to three after a header from Vanney found the back of the net following a pass from Julian Placias.
Dynamo 2 pulled one back in the 72nd minute after a shot hit the left post and bounced in front of Silva, who quickly fired a left-footed shot for his second goal of the season.
Houston’s first dangerous chance came in the seventh minute when a corner delivery from attacker MattheoDimareli found midfielder Gustavo Dohmann inside the box for a header that missed the far post by inches.
Dimareli had a shot on target in the 17th minute, sending a free kick from 25-yards out into the hands of Ventura’s goalkeeper Sebastian Conlon.
Goalkeeper Pedro Cruz was first called into action in the 24th minute by getting low to safely secure a long-range shot from Eric Preston. The shot stopper finished the match with seven saves.
Dynamo 2 had another scoring opportunity in the 26th minute when Silva found Dimareli on the left flank, where the 16-year-old dribbled into the box and forced a diving save from Conlon with a powerful shot towards the near post.
Forward Austin Brummett nearly got on the scoring sheet in the 50th minute, firing a quick left-footed shot from inside the box that forced the Ventura goalkeeper into a sharp save.
Striker Arthur Sousa tested Conlon in the 58th minute with a header that forced the goalkeeper to dive to his right following a cross from Dimareli.
Houston created a dangerous chance in the 70th minute when attacker Samir Mohammad dribbled into the box and found a streaking Brummett, whose shot on target was saved by the Ventura goalkeeper.
