HOUSTON (Sept. 3, 2025) – Houston Dynamo 2 is excited to announce the signing of Academy product and midfielder Enrique Correa to an MLS NEXT Pro contract through 2026 with a club option for 2027, the Club announced today.
Correa, who calls Katy (Houston) home, is the ninth Dynamo Academy player in Club history to sign a professional contract with Dynamo 2. Other players include Roberto “Beto” Avila, Noah Betancourt, Joyner Castillo, David Garcia, Diego Gonzalez, Mujeeb Murana, Jathan Juarez and Sebastian Rodriguez.
"We are thrilled that another Dynamo Academy product is making the jump to the professional level, illustrating the strength of our player pathway system. Enrique is a talented hard working player whose consistently demonstrated his drive and commitment to the club and we are proud to see him take the next step in his career” said Dynamo Assistant General Manager Nick Kowba. “He made his professional debut with Dynamo 2 this season and has already scored two goals, both of them coming against our in-state rivals, Dallas and Austin. Enrique is also supported by a tremendous family, including his mother Yudithmar, father Enrique and aunt Huglimar, who have all played a part in his development since moving to Houston from Venezuela. We look forward to his continued development and contributions within our Club.”
Correa is the third player to join Dynamo Dos directly from the Dynamo Academy this year. He joined the U-17 team in September 2022 and represented the squad at the 2023 MLS NEXT Fest. Correa also helped the team reach the Round of 16 in the 2023 Generation adidas Cup after finishing second in their group and defeating Minnesota United’s academy team and IMG Academy along the way.
Prior to joining the Dynamo Academy, Correa moved from Venezuela to Katy, a suburb in Houston, in 2022 at the age of 15. He initially arrived with his grandmother and lived with his aunt, while the rest of his family–his mother, father and sister–joined him in Houston by the end of 2023. Notably, his sister was the top-ranked tennis player in Venezuela and, at just 12 years old, is now ranked No. 26 in Texas.
Correa began his soccer journey in Venezuela, inspired by his father’s passion for the sport. He joined Deportivo Lara’s youth team at the age of six, moved to Academia Rey at age 10 and returned to Deportivo Lara at 12 years old. While with the Deportivo Lara Academy, the midfielder also took part in a few preseason training sessions with both their first team and second team.
The 18-year-old has already made his mark for Dynamo Dos this season, netting two goals and recording one assist in 14 appearances (nine starts). He is currently joint-third in scoring (2) for Dos this season and notably, is one of 11 Academy players who have made their professional debuts this year. Correa made his professional debut and scored his first professional goal on March 23, helping Dynamo 2 secure a dominant 5-1 home victory over North Texas SC. Correa’s second goal came on April 27 versus in-state rivals Austin FC II, doubling Dos’ lead in the 77th minute.
On the international stage, Correa has been called up to Venezuelan U-17 National Team training camp twice in 2022.
