HOUSTON (May 30, 2025) – Houston Dynamo 2 signed forward Tomás Romero on loan for the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro season with an option to buy from Club Atlético Unión in Argentina, both clubs announced today.

The Argentinian forward is expected to be eligible for selection when Dynamo Dos travel to face in-state rivals Austin FC II on Friday, May 30 at Parmer Field.

“Tomás is a young attacker who adds versatility to our front line and possesses the aggressive mindset that we look for in all Dynamo players,” said Dynamo Assistant General Manager Nick Kowba. “Our MLS NEXT Pro team has proven to be a platform for young international players to advance their careers into MLS and other top leagues around the world. We look forward to working with Tomás to realize his potential and plan to integrate him quickly into Houston Dynamo 2 this summer.”

Romero joins Dynamo 2 from CA Unión, where he spent most of his time with the club’s youth team, CA Unión II, in the Argentinian reserve league. He has scored nine goals over 55 appearances, and most recently, the forward helped lead CA Unión II to this year’s Copa Túnel Subfluvial Final.

The 20-year-old made his debut with CA Unión II in March 2023 and scored his first goal and a brace with the club two weeks later in a 4-2 victory over River Plate II. Romero also contributed a late equalizer versus Boca Juniors II in March 2024 and the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory over Godoy Cruz II in May 2024.
