HOUSTON (June 6, 2025) – Houston Dynamo 2 signed defender Juan Viveros on loan for the 2025 MLS NEXT Pro season with an option to buy from Boca Juniors de Cali in Colombia, the Club announced today.
The 20-year-old Colombian is expected to be eligible for selection when Dynamo Dos host Sporting Kansas City II on Saturday, June 7, at Shell Energy Stadium.
“Juan brings a versatile, two-way skill set to our roster, adding another option to our backline on the pitch. Having logged more than 4,000 professional minutes in Colombia, he will bring and increased level of competition within our group to continue pushing for success in MLS NEXT Pro,” said Dynamo Assistant General Manager Nick Kowba. “Juan is another young and rising South American talent who we look forward to developing in our Club. We are excited for him to join the group this week and see his potential unfold on the pitch soon.”
Viveros joins the team after three seasons (2023-25) with Boca Juniors de Cali, where he made his professional debut at the age of 18 and has gone on to make 51 appearances. His debut came in Colombia’s second division, Categoría Primera B, versus Leones FC in July 2023.
Most recently, the Colombian defender started in the first eleven matches of the 2025 season with Boca Juniors de Cali, including the team's first clean sheet of the season in a 4-0 victory over Deportes Quindío.
