HOUSTON (April 1, 2026) – Houston Dynamo 2 signed forward Mamadi Jiana to an MLS NEXT Pro contract through 2026 with a Club option for 2027, the Club announced today.
“Mamadi is a skillful forward who runs at defenders and has the ability to score goals” said Dynamo Assistant General Manager Nick Kowba. “We are excited to have Mamadi join the Club and continue his development with our staff here in Houston”
Jiana arrives in Houston after completing a productive senior season at Bryant University, where he started 20 of his 21 appearances during the 2025 campaign. He finished third in goals in the America East Conference (AmEast) with seven, including two braces, one against the University of Connecticut and another versus University of Massachusetts Lowell in the semifinals of the AmEast Championship, which secured the Bulldogs a spot in the final versus the University of Vermont. The Westfield, Mass. native was selected with the 54thoverall pick in the 2026 MLS SuperDraft by Inter Miami CF following his collegiate career.
Before his time at Bryant, Jiana began his collegiate career at Norwich University, where he recorded 17 goals and 13 assists in 30 appearances between 2021 and 2022. Notably, in 2022, he scored 10 of his 12 goals in a five-game stretch, including a four-goal performance versus Lasell University and a hat trick against Anna Maria College. The forward helped the Cadets posted a 14-3-1 (WLD) record in 2021 and an 11-3-3 (WLD) record in 2022, reaching the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship final in the first year and the GNAC quarterfinals in the second year. His performances earned him First Team All-GNAC, First Team All-Region and GNAC Rookie of the Year honors.
In between Norwich and Bryant, Jiana played a season at the University at Albany in 2023, where he appeared in 16 matches and scored four goals.
