Houston Dynamo 2 sign three 2026 MLS SuperDraft picks to MLS NEXT Pro contracts

HOUSTON (Feb. 21, 2026) – Houston Dynamo 2 signed three of their **2026** **MLS** **SuperDraft** selections, including forward Austin Brummett, defender Agustin Resch and midfielder Gilberto Rivera, the Club announced today.

Houston Dynamo FC selected Resch with the 69th overall pick out of Seton Hall University, Brummett with the 78th overall pick out of the University of Connecticut and Rivera with the 88th overall pick out of San Jose State University.

“These three players have excelled throughout the preseason, proving they can compete at the next level, and we are thrilled to reward them with contracts for the upcoming MLS NEXT Pro season,” said Assistant General Manager Nick Kowba. “We are confident they will maintain a high standard and push our young group daily as they continue to develop through our player pathway and progress through the professional ranks. Agustin is a towering addition to our backline, Gilberto is a commander in the midfield and Austin is a proven goalscorer. Most importantly, all three players have the correct competitive mindset and mentality to compete in our first and second team environments.”

Brummett joins Dos following a stellar senior season at the University of Connecticut. He made 20 appearances and led the Huskies with 24 points on a career-high 10 goals and four assists, marking the most goals and points by a UConn player since 2018. The forward helped guide UConn to the 2025 NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 after scoring a brace in the team’s 3-1 victory over Cornell University in the second round and earned All-BIG EAST Third Team and United Soccer Coaches East All-Region First Team honors. Prior to UConn, Brummett began his college career at San Diego State University, where he made 52 appearances and totaled 14 goals and 10 assists. He enjoyed a breakout season in 2023, leading the Aztecs in points (17) and goals (7) across 18 matches, while finishing top five in the PAC-12 Conference in goals and points per game (0.94).

Resch completed a standout collegiate career at Seton Hall University, where he made 50 appearances for the Pirates, scoring five goals and recording three assists. The defender produced one of the best seasons in Seton Hall program history in 2025, recording career highs in both goals (three) and assists (three) against some of the nation’s top schools. His performances earned him numerous conference and national honors, including NCAA Division I Men’s All-America First Team, First Team All-BIG EAST, BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year, United Soccer Coaches First Team All-East Region and MAC Hermann Trophy Semifinalist.

Rivera joins the team from San Jose State University, where he concluded his junior season with 52 appearances, three goals and 10 assists. Notably, the midfielder helped the Spartans reach back-to-back Western Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Tournament finals in 2024 and 2025. In 2025, he earned First Team All-Far West Region and First Team All-WAC honors after recording two goals, eight assists and 1,648 minutes in 19 appearances, while helping the Spartans lead the conference with eight shutouts. He also earned WAC All-Tournament Team honors in 2024.
