PORTLAND, Oreg. (May 24, 2026) – Houston Dynamo 2 extended their unbeaten streak earlier this afternoon with a 3-0 road victory over Portland Timbers2, highlighted by a brace from forward AustinBrummett. Notably, Brummett has now scored in three consecutive matches following today’s performance.
The result marked Houston’s sixth clean sheet of the season behind a season-high eight saves from goalkeeper Pedro Cruz. Notably, today’s result also marks Dos’ fourth win in their last five matches against Portland Timbers2 dating back to 2023.
Dynamo 2 opened the scoring in the 29th minute after defender Reese Miller found attacker SamirMohammad in the box for his second goal of the season. The play began when Brummett headed a long pass from Cruz towards Miller at midfield. Miller then dribbled down the left flank before delivering a low cross into the box, where Mohammad finished with his left-foot. The sequence marked Miller’s first professional assist.
Brummett doubled Houston’s lead in the 50th minute with a left-footed shot from inside the box that deflected off a Portland defender and into the back of the net, following a pass from midfielder D’Alessandro Herrera. The play marked Herrera’s second assist of the year.
Brummett completed his second career MLS NEXT Pro brace in the 70th minute when midfielder DiegoGonzalez played a ball inside the box. A Timbers2 defender initially disrupted the play but failed to maintain possession, allowing Brummett to recover the ball and fire a right-footed shot that deflected off Portland’s backline and into the far post.
Mohammad had Houston’s first shot on goal in the 15th minute, firing a powerful long-range shot that found the hands of theTimbers2 goalkeeper, Sam Joseph.
Cruz was called into action in the 20th minute, diving to his left to deny a long-distance strike from Victor Enriquez.
Cruz delivered another key save in the 34th minute when Eric Izoita challenged the Brazilian keeper with left-footed shot from the left side of the box. Cruz rose high to block the attempt away.
Dynamo 2 created a dangerous chance in the 63rd minute when attacker Mattheo Dimareli put up a shot from the center of the box, forcing a save from Joseph.
Striker Arthur Sousa nearly got on the scoresheet in the 75th minute when his right-footed shot in a one-on-one situation with the Timbers2 keeper was blocked away for a Dos corner.
Houston’s impressive undefeated start to the season now stands at nine victories and two draws through 11 matches, as the team sits atop the Western Conference standings with 31 points, while currently ranking second in the league in assists (20) and goals scored (28). Dynamo 2 also leads in fewest goals conceded in open play (four) this season and is tied for first in clean sheets.
