Houston Dynamo 2 continue their four-game road trip this week when they visit The Town FC in northern California on Friday, May 3. Fans can follow the action live on MLSNEXTPro.com starting at 7 p.m. CT.

Dynamo 2 look to build on a second-half comeback that earned them their first point of the season on Sunday evening. Trailing 2-0, Dynamo 2 pulled a goal back after they forced an own goal on a against the run of play. Midfielder Ousmane Sylla capitalized on a turnover and played the ball in space to forward Ifu Achara in the 60th minute. The Nigerian international forced a rushed clearance from a North Texas defender resulting in the ball finding the back of the net.

Houston Dynamo Academy alum Kieran Sargeant scored the equalizer in the final minutes of the second half to force a shootout. Captain Diego Gonzalez served a cross into the box initially handled by the North Texas goalkeeper, but he lost control of the ball as he fell to the ground. Sargeant was well positioned to capitalize on the loose ball and score his first goal of the season. Houston ultimately lost the extra point after missing the final kick of the shootout.

Dynamo 2 goalkeeper Xavier Valdez finished with five saves against North Texas. This was the third time a Dynamo 2 goalkeeper reached that mark this season and Valdez has finished with five saves twice this campaign.

Defensively, Sargeant finished with three clearances and two interceptions against North Texas. Isaac Mwakutuya, a current Houston Dynamo Academy player, finished with three interceptions and three clearances.

Friday’s match will be the only meeting between the two sides this season. The San Jose Earthquakes affiliate swept the series in 2023 with victories at home and on the road. Dynamo 2 won the first ever meeting with the Earthquakes MLSNEXT Pro affiliate in 2022.

Town FC looks to bounce back after a 3-2 loss to Tacoma Defiance on April 25 in Washington. Despite the loss, Town FC enters with a 2-2-2 record and sits seventh in the Western Conference standings. Aaron Edwards finished with two assists in the loss to Tacoma and Eduardo Blancas Maravilla scored his second goal of the season in the loss. Offensively, Edwards is one of six Town FC players to tally an assist this season.
