Houston Dynamo FC signed defender Talen Maples to a short-term loan. The 24-year-old will be available for the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup match against Minnesota United at Shell Energy Stadium later today.

Maples made his first team debut as a second half substitute in Houston’s Round of 32 victory against Sporting Kansas City on May 10. Maples, a San Antonio native, has made 36 career MLS NEXT Pro starts for Dynamo 2 and was named to the inaugural MLS NEXT Pro Best XI in 2022. The defender scored his first goal of the season on April 2 against Colorado 2 at SaberCats Stadium.

The Houston Dynamo will look to continue their strong home record, starting the season 4-1-1 in MLS Regular Season play and winning their Round of 32 U.S. Open Cup match against Sporting KC. Shell Energy Stadium has become one of the most difficult venues in the U.S. to play with opponents only scoring one goal in 688 competitive minutes in 2023.
