HOUSTON (Aug. 19, 2026) – Houston Dynamo 2 wrap up a three-match homestand during midweek action, hosting San Jose Earthquakes II on Wednesday, Aug. 19, at SaberCats Stadium. The fixture marks the first and only meeting between the two sides this season, and fans can secure their free tickets HERE.

Houston currently sits third in the Western Conference with 45 points and a 13-5-3 (WLD) record, while conceding the second fewest goals (21) across the league this season. The team can clinch a spot in the 2026 MLS NEXT Pro playoffs on Wednesday through any of the three scenarios listed below:

  1. Dynamo 2 win
  2. Dynamo 2 shootout win + North Texas SC result of two points or less
  3. Dynamo 2 shootout loss + North Texas SC loss

Dynamo 2 is coming off just their fifth defeat of the season, falling 2-0 to Ventura County FC. The result marked Dynamo 2's first home loss of the 2026 season and snapped their nine-game unbeaten streak in Houston, the longest in team history. It also marked the first time Houston was held scoreless this campaign, ending a 20-match scoring streak in which the team had found the back of the net at least once in every game.

Notably, Houston's unbeaten home streak included eight victories and one draw, which was highlighted by a four-match home winning streak to kick off the season and a three-match home winning streak to begin July.

Dos opened the 2026 season with a team-record 11-match unbeaten streak, where they recorded 31 points, 28 goals and 20 assists, while leading in fewest goals conceded in open play (four) during that span. All that was despite a league-record 10-match road trip that stretched from March to July due to DR Congo calling SaberCats home during the FIFA World Cup 2026™.

San Jose are coming off a 2-0 defeat to St. Louis CITY2 at Spartan Soccer Complex and have posted a 3-5-2 (WLD) record in the last 10 matches. The team currently sits eighth in the Western Conference with 31 points and a 8-8-5 (WLD) overall record. Zachary Bohane leads the team's attack with seven goals.

Houston next hits the road to face St. Louis CITY2 on Sunday, Aug. 23, with kickoff scheduled for 6:00 p.m. CT at Energizer Park. Fans can tune into the action via MLSNEXTPro.com and OneFootball.
