HOUSTON (May 8, 2025) – Houston Dynamo 2 return to SaberCats Stadium to host Colorado Rapids 2 on Friday, May 9, with kickoff scheduled for 6:00 p.m. CT. Fans can claim their free tickets to Dynamo Dos matches HERE.
The match will be the first of three meetings between the two sides this season, with Houston set to visit Colorado on July 6 and Sept. 9. Dynamo 2 earned a 2-1 victory over Rapids 2 in their most recent matchup in Houston in September of last season, with goals from Dynamo 2 captain Diego Gonzalez and forward Andy Batioja. Notably, the win contributed to Houston’s postseason push, as they ultimately clinched a spot in the 2024 MLS NEXT Pro playoffs on Decision Day against Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2.
Additionally, Houston will look to gain the upper hand in the all-time season series against Rapids 2 on Friday with the series currently tied at three wins apiece.
Dynamo 2 are coming off a 3-1 road loss to St. Louis CITY2 this past Sunday. Midfielder Sebastian Rodriguez scored Houston’s lone goal in the 48th minute, marking his second goal of the 2025 campaign. Notably, Dynamo 2 fielded a lineup with an average age of 18, including 15-year-old Daniel Barrett and 16-year-old Micah Harris.
Dos currently sits second in the Western Conference with 15 points and a 5-3-0 (WLD) record, while also ranking fourth in the league for most goals scored (16) this season.
Goalkeeper Pedro Cruz, who was named the MLS NEXT Pro Goalkeeper of the Month for April, sits third in the league with 26 saves. The shot stopper finished with two saves versus CITY2.
Colorado enters Friday’s match with a 4-2-0 (WLD) record over their last six games, having started May with a 3-2 road loss to LAFC. Alex Harris and Malik Pinto were Colorado’s two goal scorers in that match. The team currently sits sixth in the Western Conference with 13 points and a 4-3-1 (WLD) overall record. Both Kimani Stewart-Baynes and Colton Swan lead the team’s attack with three goals each.
