Houston holds the upper hand in the all-time series against the FC Dallas affiliate, with five wins and three draws out of their 11 regular season meetings. In their first matchup this year, Dynamo Dos earned a dominating 5-1 victory on March 23, with goals from forward Exon Arzú, midfielder Lukas Bruegmann, midfielder Enrique Correa, forward Myles Gardner and midfielder Diego Gonzalez. The two sides met again on May 19, where Dynamo 2 fell 2-1 in a tight road match, with forward Stephen Annor netting the team’s lone goal.
Dynamo Dos currently sit ninth in the Western Conference with 22 points and a 5-7-4 (WLD) record.
Houston looks to bounce back on Sunday following a 2-1 loss to Colorado Rapids 2 last weekend. Dynamo 2’s lone goal came from Annor, who pulled one back in the 70th minute with a backheel finish for his fourth goal of the season. Goalkeeper Pedro Cruz, who is set to participate in the third edition of Goalie Wars at the 2025 MLS All-Star Skills Challenge in less than two weeks, made seven saves on the night.
North Texas enters this weekend’s match in fourth in the Western Conference with 26 points and a 7-6-3 (WLD) record. They are coming off a 3-1 home victory over Minesota United FC 2 on July 3. Tarik Scott scored the fastest goal in club history just one minute and 19 seconds into the match, later doubling his tally in the 64th minute to complete his brace. Sam Darver also added his team-leading 10th goal in the 46th minute.
In 2024, Houston and North Texas each recorded a win, a loss and a draw in their three encounters. Notably, Houston’s 5-1 victory earlier this season marked just the second time in Dynamo Dos history that the team scored five goals in a match. It also stood as their most dominant victory since last season’s 4-0 win over North Texas.
Dynamo 2 continue their two-match homestand at SaberCats Stadium on Thursday, July 17, hosting Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2. Fans can claim their free tickets to the match HERE.
