HOUSTON (May 17, 2025) – Houston Dynamo 2 travel north within Texas to face in-state rivals North Texas SC on Sunday, May 18, in the second of three meetings this season. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT at Choctaw Stadium, and fans can stream the match on MLSNEXTPro.com.

The two sides met earlier this season in Houston, where Dos secured a thrilling 5-1 victory at SaberCats Stadium. Midfielders Diego Gonzalez and Lukas Bruegmann each recorded a goal and an assist. Midfielder Enrique Correa and forward Myles Gardner scored their first professional goals in the match, while forward Exon Arzú netted his first of three goals this season.

Notably, the win marked the second time in Dynamo 2 history that the team scored five goals, as well as the team’s largest victory since last season versus North Texas, when Dos defeated the FC Dallas affiliate 4-0.

Dynamo 2 are coming off a penalty shootout victory over Colorado Rapids 2 after the two sides played to a scoreless draw in regulation. Dos claimed the two points after Colorado missed their fifth and final penalty, securing Houston’s first shootout victory of the campaign.

Notably, the result in regulation marked the team’s second clean sheet of the season, backed by four saves from goalkeeper Pedro Cruz, who was recently named the MLS NEXT Pro Goalkeeper of the Month for April.

Dos currently sits second in the Western Conference with 17 points and a 5-3-1 (WLD) record.

Two Dynamo Academy players that play on Dynamo 2 reported to training camp with the U.S. Youth National Team this past Thursday. Bruegmann and midfielder Mattheo Dimareli were called up to join the U-16 U.S. Boys’ National Team, and the team will travel to face Argentina on May 22 and Uruguay on May 27.

North Texas enters Sunday’s match sitting fourth in the Western Conference with 15 points through nine matches and is coming off a 1-0 road victory versus Minnesota United FC 2, with Landon Hickam scoring the lone goal at Minnesota. Sam Sarver leads the team’s attack with four goals and one assist.

Dynamo 2 has the upper hand in the all-time series against the FC Dallas affiliate, with five wins and three draws out of their ten meetings in regular season play. In 2024, Houston and North Texas finished with one win, one loss and one draw against each other.

Dynamo 2 hits the road again to face another in-state rival, Austin FC II, on Friday, May 30, at Parmer Field. Fans can follow the action live via MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
