COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (July 6, 2025) – Houston Dynamo 2 fell 2-1 on the road to Colorado Rapids 2 at DICK’s Sporting Goods Park tonight, with the match concluding after an 80-minute weather delay.
Colorado took the lead in the 49th minute when a cross from Anderson Rosa found Sydney Wathuta at the far post for a header. Colorado then doubled their lead in the 68th minute after Antony Garcia played Billo Diop through on a run into the box, where he found the back of the net.
Forward Stephen Annor pulled one back for Houston in the 70th minute when midfielder Joshua Bolma played a ball into the center of the box, which got redirected by Colorado’s backline and landed at Annor’s feet for a backheel finish inside the six-yard-box. The goal marked Annor’s fourth of the season.
Defender Isaac Mwakutuya received a red card in the 57th minute to deny a goal scoring opportunity.
Dynamo 2 had a dangerous chance in the 15th minute when Bolma played a through ball to midfielder Noah Betancourt on the right side of the box, who then delivered a cross to midfielder Mattheo Dimareli in the center, but his shot sailed over the crossbar.
Goalkeeper Pedro Cruz was called into action in the 18th minute, reacting quickly to his left to deny a right-footed shot from Wathuta. The young shot stopper totaled seven saves on the night.
Cruz delivered another save in the 47th minute when Diop fired a shot towards the far post, forcing the Brazilian goalkeeper to make a diving stop to his right.
Dimareli had a scoring opportunity of his own in the 55th minute, firing a left-footed shot from inside the box that forced goalkeeper Adam Beaudry to get low for the save.
Cruz was called into action again in the 71st minute when a long-range strike from Alex Harris forced the 21-year-old to get low and quell the danger.
Midfielder Sebastian Rodriguez took his chances from long distance in the 85th minute with a powerful right-footed strike that missed the far post by inches.
