HOUSTON (March 16, 2026) – Houston Dynamo 2 was named the MLS NEXT Pro Team for Matchweek 3, the league announced today.
Dynamo 2 earned their third consecutive victory to start the 2026 campaign on March 15, defeating Portland Timbers2 5-0 at SaberCats Stadium. Seven players contributed to the scoring, including 15-year-old MatthewArana, who scored his first professional goal, and forward Arthur Sousa, who recorded his first Dynamo 2 goal and assist. The result also marked Houston’s third straight clean sheet, backed by three saves from Brazilian goalkeeper Pedro Cruz.
The team took the lead in the 28th minute when Arana played pass to Sousa inside the box. Upon receiving the ball, the Brazilian striker cut back to his left and found the inside of the far post. The play marked Arana’s first assist of the season.
Arana doubled Houston’s lead two minutes later with a left-footed long-range strike after receiving a pass from Sousa outside the 18-yard box following a Timbers2 error.
Dynamo Dos extended their lead in the 44th minute following a combination play between attacker TomášWiesner and midfielder Gustavo Dohmann. The sequence began with Wiesner dribbling towards the box and playing a quick give-and-go with Dohmann before finishing the move with a right-footed shot into the bottom left corner. The play marked Wiesner’s first Dynamo 2 goal and Dohmann’s first professional assist.
Forward Jahmani “JJ” Bell scored Houston’s fourth goal of the match in the 86th minute with a stunning volley from 30 yards out. Midfielder Gilberto Rivera intercepted a pass from Portland and played a ball to Bell, who controlled it before striking it cleanly for his first professional goal. The sequence also marked Rivera’s first professional assist.
Dynamo 2 then sealed the deal in second half stoppage time when midfielder Diego Gonzalez delivered a corner that was tipped by the visiting team’s goalkeeper towards the back post, where defender Vinicius Silvafinished it for his first professional goal.
Houston sits at the top of the Western Conference with a 3-0-0 (WLD) record, while ranking second in the league in goals scored (11) and sitting first in clean sheets (3). They are the only team in MLS NEXT Pro who have not conceded a goal in 2026.
