HOUSTON (March 15, 2026) – Houston Dynamo 2 earned three points earlier this evening, defeating Portland Timbers2 5-0 at SaberCats Stadium, highlighted by two goal contributions each from 15-year-old Matthew Arana, who scored his first professional goal, and forward Arthur Sousa, who recorded his first Dynamo 2 goal and assist.

The result also marked Houston’s third clean sheet of the season, and third in a row, backed by three saves from Brazilian goalkeeper Pedro Cruz.

Dynamo 2 took the lead in the 28th minute when Arana played pass to Sousa inside the box. Upon receiving the ball, the Brazilian striker cut back to his left and found the inside of the far post. The play marked Arana’s first assist of the season.

Arana doubled Houston’s lead two minutes later with a left-footed long-range strike after receiving a pass from Sousa outside the 18-yard box following a Timbers2 error.

Dynamo Dos extended their lead in the 44th minute following a combination play between attacker TomášWiesner and midfielder Gustavo Dohmann. The sequence began with Wiesner dribbling towards the box and playing a quick give-and-go with Dohmann before finishing the move with a right-footed shot into the bottom left corner. The play marked Wiesner’s first Dynamo 2 goal and Dohmann’s first professional assist.

Jahmani “JJ” Bell scored Houston’s fourth goal of the night in the 86th minute with a stunning volley from 30 yards out. Midfielder Gilberto Rivera intercepted a pass from Portland and played a ball to Bell, who controlled it before striking it cleanly for his first professional goal. The sequence also marked Rivera’s first professional assist.

Dynamo 2 then sealed the deal in second half stoppage time when midfielder Diego Gonzalez delivered a corner that was tipped by the visiting team’s goalkeeper towards the back post, where defender Vinicius Silvafinished it for his first professional goal.

Goalkeeper Pedro Cruz was called into action early in the match, diving high to his right to deny a long-distance shot from Benjamin Barjolo.

Cruz was called into action again in the 38th minute with a quick reaction save, where he dove to his left to block a close-range header from Daniel Cervantes.

Dohmann almost put himself on the board in the 57th minute with a powerful right-footed strike that forced Hunter Sulte to react quickly for the save.

Gonzalez put a shot on target in the 73rd minute with a free kick from 25 yards out that found the hands of the visiting team’s goalkeeper.
