HOUSTON (Sept. 13, 2026) – Houston Dynamo 2 close a two-match road trip on Sunday, Sept. 13, when they face North Texas SC again in the second of back-to-back matches at Mansfield Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. CT, and fans can follow the action live via MLSNEXTPro.com and OneFootball.
Notably, with a victory, Dynamo 2 would set a single-season team record for wins in a season. The team is currently tied with the previous record of 14 wins, set during Dos’ inaugural season in 2022.
Having already clinched an MLS NEXT Pro 2026 Playoffs spot, Dynamo 2 enters the match looking to close the gap on the top two in the Western Conference, as Houston currently sits three points behind second place with a 14-7-5 (W-L-D) record on 51 points.
Sunday’s fixture match marks the third and final meeting between the Texas sides this season, with Dynamo 2 earning a 2-0 shutout victory at SaberCats Stadium on March 21 before securing a dramatic 3-2 comeback victory in their first of back-to-back matches at North Texas on Sept. 9. Notably, Dos’ recent result set a new single-season team record for points, surpassing the previous record of 49 points set in 2022.
In the first meeting against the in-state rival, midfielder Diego Gonzalez, who is on loan with USL League One side Portland Hearts of Pine, and midfielder Gilberto Rivera, who was recently recalled from his loan to Phoenix Rising FC in the USL Championship, found the back of the net, while goalkeeper Pedro Cruz, who is on loan with USL Championship team El Paso Locomotive FC, added three saves to secure the team’s fourth consecutive shutout to open the season.
The Sept. 9 matchup gave Dynamo 2 their second victory over North Texas in the season series, as Houston rallied with two goals within a span of ten minutes in second half stoppage time despite playing with 10 men for the final 38 minutes of the match. Attacker Samir Mohammad played a key role in the comeback, contributing to both goals in the dying moments of the game, while striker Austin Brummett scored the late stoppage-time match winner.
North Texas is now 2-2-3 (W-L-D) in the last seven matches, while they sit eighth in the Western Conference with 38 points and 8-8-9 (W-L-D) overall record. Edouard Nys leads the team’s attack with ten goals and seven assists.
Dynamo 2 opened the 2026 season with a team-record 11-match unbeaten streak, where they recorded 31 points, 28 goals and 20 assists, while leading in fewest goals conceded in open play (four) during that span. All that was despite a league-record 10-match road trip that stretched from March to July due to DR Congo calling SaberCats home during the FIFA World Cup 2026™.
Houston also opened the season with a team record nine-match unbeaten streak, recording eight victories and one draw. The run included a four-match home winning streak to open the season, as well as a three-match home winning streak to begin July.
Additionally, Aug. 14 marked the first time Houston was held scoreless this campaign, ending a 20-match scoring streak in which the team found the back of the net at least once in every game.
Last week, Dos acquired defender Davis Bautista on full transfer from Eintracht Frankfurt in the German Bundesliga and signed defender Gabriel William on loan from Ituano FC in Brazil. Bautista joins team with European experience from the Eintracht Frankfurt system, where he recorded 23 appearances for their second team, Eintracht Frankfurt II, in Germany's fourth division, Regionalliga Südwest, across the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons. William arrives in Houston with 27 professional appearances and three goals under his belt.
