Dos vs SKCII 16_9 Match Preview

HOUSTON (Aug. 16, 2025) – Houston Dynamo 2 travel to face Sporting Kansas City II on Sunday, Aug. 17, at Children’s Mercy Victory Field, marking the second of two regular season matchups between the two sides this year. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. CT, and fans can stream the action live via MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.

Houston has seven matches remaining in their push for the playoffs, including four home matches and three road matches.

Dynamo Dos lead the all-time series versus Kansas City II with a 5-3-1 (WLD) record, with their most recent win coming earlier this season in a 3-1 home opener victory on March 8 at SaberCats Stadium. Midfielders Mattheo Dimareli and Sebastian Rodriguez found the back of the net that evening, while former Dynamo 2 player Andy Batioja scored Dos’ first goal of the regular season.

Notably, the win marked Marcelo Santos’ first victory as Dynamo 2 head coach and saw four Dynamo Academy players make their professional debuts in midfielder Noah Betancourt, defender Micah Harris, defender Jayden Puna and forward Fadel Kone. Additionally, defender Felipe Andrade and goalkeeper Pedro Cruz, who finished the night with seven saves, made their MLS NEXT Pro debuts during the match.

Dos will look to bounce back from a 4-0 home loss to Real Monarchs last weekend. Houston currently sits 11th in the Western Conference with 26 points and a 6-10-5 (WLD) record.

Notably, last weekend’s match saw defender Nicolas ‘Nico’ Ramos make his MLS NEXT Pro debut after signing with Dynamo 2 last week. He joined from Club National de Football in Uruguay, where he rose through the ranks of Nacional’s academy, Canteral Inagotable, before making his professional debut with the first team in January 2024 versus Colo-Colo in Chile in the Copa Gustavo Biscayzacú. The 20-year-old then spent the 2024 season on loan in Uruguay’s second division with C.A. Rentistas, where he totaled 24 appearances, recording one assist and helping the team earn nine clean sheets during his time on the pitch. On the international stage, Ramos has made eight appearances for the U-20 Uruguay national team and has scored one goal.

Sporting enters Sunday’s fixture last in the Western Conference with 11 points and a 2-14-4 (WLD) record. Kansas City is coming off a 3-2 road loss to Minnesota United FC 2, with Medgy Alexandre scoring both goals for them. Alexandre leads the team’s attack with eight goals, while Maouloune Goumballe leads the team with three assists.

Following Sunday’s match, Houston next returns to SaberCats Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 9, to host The Town FC. Fans can claim free tickets all Dynamo 2 home matches HERE.
