MATCH PREVIEW: Houston Dynamo 2 open two-match homestand with midweek matchup against Tacoma Defiance

HOUSTON (Sept. 16, 2025) – Houston Dynamo 2 open a two-match homestand on Wednesday, Sept. 17, at 7:00 p.m. CT, hosting Tacoma Defiance at SaberCats Stadium in midweek action. Fans can claim free tickets to this match and all Dynamo 2 home matches HERE.

Wednesday’s fixture will be the first of two meetings between the sides this season, with Houston visiting Tacoma on Decision Day on Oct. 5.

Dos have three regular season matches remaining in their push for the MLS NEXT Pro Playoffs, including two at home and one on the road.

Dynamo 2 currently sit 10th in the Western Conference with 34 points and a 8-11-6 (WLD) record.

Houston secured a crucial 1-0 road victory over Colorado Rapids 2 on Sept. 14, earning their fourth clean sheet of the season thanks to five saves by goalkeeper Pedro Cruz. The only goal came in the 12th minute when midfielder Mattheo Dimareli’s corner delivery led to an own goal after Billo Diop’s clearance attempt found the back of the net. In the 35th minute, first-team defender Femi Awodesu received a red card for denying a Colorado goal-scoring opportunity, leaving Houston to play the final 55 minutes with 10 men. The result moves Dynamo 2 to just two spots and four points shy of the playoff line.

Dynamo Dos recently announced the signings of Dynamo Academy products **Noah** **Betancourt** and **Enrique** **Correa**. Betancourt joins Dynamo 2 directly from the Dynamo Academy, where he joined in June 2022 at the age of 16 and represented the Club in various tournaments during his three-year Academy tenure, including the 2024 Generation Adidas Cup with the U-17 squad, where he helped the team reach the Round of 16. The midfielder has already featured for Dos this season, registering 22 appearances and 1,593 minutes. Correa also joins Dynamo 2 directly from the Dynamo Academy, where he joined the U-17 team in September 2022 and represented the squad at the 2023 MLS NEXT Fest and 2023 Generation Adidas Cup. The 18-year-old has made 15 appearances for Dos, while recording two goals and one assist. Notably, both are one of 11 Academy players who have made their professional debuts this year.

Tacoma is coming off a four-game losing streak, most recently falling 2-1 at home to Austin FC II this past weekend. Djaka Barro opened the scoring for Austin in the 30th minute, Jackson Khoury equalized for Tacoma in the 75th and Jorge Alastuey netted the game-winner a minute later for the visitors. Tacoma currently sits 13th in the Western Conference with 27 points and a 7-13-4 (WLD) record. Yu Tsukanome leads the team’s attack with 14 goals, while Peter Kingston leads the team in distribution with six assists.
