HOUSTON (July 5, 2026) – Houston Dynamo 2 earned a dominant 4-0 victory over Minnesota United FC 2 at Shell Energy Stadium on Sunday afternoon, improving their all-time series against MNUFC2 to seven wins, four draws and two losses.
The match was highlighted by two goal contributions from defender Reese Miller, who registered his second goal and second assist of the season. Notably, defender Brogan Fitzsimons made his professional debut after coming on as a substitute in the 79th minute.
Dynamo 2 took the lead in the 35th minute following a stunning individual play from forward Alan Martins. The young Brazilian received the ball on the right flank and dribbled towards the box before quickly changing direction to his right and firing a right-footed missile into far post for his first professional goal. The play also marked midfielder Noah Betancourt’s first assist of the season.
Forward Jahmani “JJ” Bell extended Houston’s lead in the 41st minute after converting a penalty kick, calmly finding the bottom left corner. The penalty was earned when midfielder Gustavo Dohmann was deemed to have been fouled inside the box.
Dos extended their lead to three when defender Reese Miller found the inside of the near post following a long ball from defender Isaac Mwakutuya. The play marked Miller’s second goal of the season and Mwakutuya’s second assist of the year.
Striker Austin Brummett scored Houston’s fourth and final goal of the match in the 81st minute, beating the Minnesota goalkeeper in one-on-one situation to notch his eighth goal of the season.
Houston’s first dangerous chance came early in the third minute of the match when attacker SamirMohammad received a ball inside the box from defender Gavin Wolff and fired a left-footed shot towards the near post.
Bell had Houston’s second shot on target in the fifth minute, sending a free kick from 25 yards out into the hands of Minnesota’s goalkeeper Kai Zeruhn.
Dynamo 2 generated another dangerous attack in the 10th minute when a cheeky backheel from Bell found Brummett at the top of the box for a powerful right-footed strike that almost found the inside of the far post after the MNUFC2 goalkeeper put his fingertips to it.
Forward Arthur Sousa had a shot on goal in the 58th minute, forcing a quick reaction save from Alexander Witte, who came on during halftime, with a right-footed blast from inside the box.
