HOUSTON (Aug. 19, 2026) – Houston Dynamo 2 played San Jose Earthquakes II to a 1-1 draw at SaberCats Stadium earlier this evening. The visiting team won the penalty shootout 5-3 to claim the additional point.

Houston can still clinch a spot in the 2026 MLS NEXT Pro playoffs with a North Texas SC loss tonight against Austin FC II.

The match saw midfielder Vitor André make his first professional start after signing with the team earlier this month.

Dynamo 2 took the lead in the ninth minute when forward Arthur Sousa played defender Vinicius Silva in behind the backline and into the box, where Silva ripped a powerful left-footed shot towards goal, finding the inside of the far post for his fourth goal of the season. The play also marked Sousa's fourth assist of the year.

San Jose leveled the match in the 78th minute when Zachary Bohane delivered a corner to Jacob Heisner at the far post for a header.

Goalkeeper Logan Erb was called into action in the seventh minute, coming off his line and standing strong to deny Julian Donnery's shot from inside the box. The shot stopper finished the night with two saves.

Erb delivered another key save in the 31st minute when Kaedren Spivey's left-footed strike forced the American goalkeeper to dive low to his left to make the save.

Midfielder Gustavo Dohmann took his chances from long range in the 32nd minute with a powerful right-footed shot that sailed over the crossbar.

Houston created a scoring opportunity in the 50th minute when Silva, from the left flank, found attacker SamirMohammad on a run towards the center of the box. However, Mohammad's shot was denied by the visiting goalkeeper.

Mohammad had another dangerous chance in the 61st minute with a left-footed shot from inside the box that almost found the inside of the far post.

Midfielder D'Alessandro Herrera almost found the back of the net in the 86th minute after dribbling into the box from the left flank and forcing the San Jose goalkeeper to make a diving save to his left.

Houston next hits the road to face St. Louis CITY2 on Sunday, Aug. 23, with kickoff scheduled for 6:00 p.m. CT at Energizer Park. Fans can tune into the action via MLSNEXTPro.com and OneFootball.
