Houston Dynamo 2 kicks off 2026 MLS NEXT Pro season with 2-0 home victory over Colorado Rapids 2

HOUSTON (March 1, 2026) – Houston Dynamo 2 opened their 2026 MLS NEXT Pro campaign with a 2-0 victory over Colorado Rapids 2 at SaberCats Stadium this evening behind Dynamo Academy product SamirMohammad’s first professional goal and midfielder D’Alessandro Herrera’s first goal of the season.

Today’s match featured several Dynamo 2 debuts, including forward **Austin** **Brummett**, midfielder **GustavoDohmann**, midfielder **Gilberto** **Rivera** and forward **Arthur** **Sousa**, all of whom were signed this offseason. Additionally, Mohammad made his first professional start in the midfield.

Dos took the lead in the 60th minute when midfielder Noah Betancourt delivered a low-driven cross from the right side of the box that found Mohammad at the far post for a first-time finish into the bottom right corner. Notably, the play marked Betancourt’s first professional assist.

Houston then sealed the game in the 89th minute when Herrera finished from close range, finding the top of the net after a rebound from forward Jahmani “JJ” Bell’s shot.

Dynamo 2’s first shot on goal came in the fourth minute when Rivera took his chances from deep with a right-footed strike that forced a diving save from Zack Campagnolo.

Houston created another dangerous chance in the 13th minute when defender Felipe Andrade almost connected with a free kick service from midfielder Mattheo Dimareli near the back post.

Sousa forced a save from the visiting goalkeeper in the 21st minute with a long-range effort.

Rivera had another shot on target in the 37th minute, firing a powerful right-footed shot that forced Campagnolo to get up high for the save.

Dos next host Tacoma on Sunday, March 8, with kickoff scheduled for 6:00 p.m. CT at SaberCats Stadium, the first of two matchups this season.
