HOUSTON (June 27, 2026) – Houston Dynamo 2 travel west to face LAFC2 on Sunday, June 28, marking the only regular season meeting between the two sides this season. The match closes a league-record 10-match road trip that already saw them win seven matches. Dos holds the upper hand in the all-time series against Los Angeles, with a 3-1-1 (WLD) record in regular season play. Both clubs matched up once in 2025, with Houston earning a 1-0 home victory versus LAFC2 behind a goal from midfielder Diego Gonzalez, who is currently on loan with Portland Hearts of Pine.
Houston opened the 2026 season with a team-record 11-match unbeaten streak, where they recorded 31 points, 28 goals and 20 assists, while leading in fewest goals conceded in open play (four) during that span. Despite recent results, Dynamo 2 still leads MLS NEXT Pro with just 10 goals conceded this season.
Dynamo 2 currently sits second in the Western Conference standings with a 9-1-2 (WLD) record. Individually, goalkeeper Pedro Cruz is tied for second in the league in clean sheets (five) and ranks third with 48 saves, while forward Austin Brummett is tied for fourth in goals scored (seven). Striker Arthur Sousa leads Dynamo 2 with three assists.
Dynamo 2 is coming off just their second defeat of the season, falling 2-1 on the road to Tacoma Defiance in a tightly contested match on June 17. Defender Vinicius Silva scored Houston’s lone goal with a strike from 40 yards out. The Brazilian has now scored in back-to-back matches, following his goal versus Ventura County FC on June 6.
The match also saw goalkeeper Logan Erb and forward David Garcia make their 2026 season debuts, while midfielder D’Alessandro Herrera made his first start of the campaign. Additionally, Dynamo Academy midfielder Dylan Reyes made his professional debut after coming on as a substitute in the 87th minute.
LAFC2 is coming off a win and loss in their last two matches, falling 2-0 at Austin FC on June 7 before earning a 1-0 victory versus MNUFC2 on June 24. The team closed the month of May with a 3-0-1 (WLD) record and currently sits ninth in the Western Conference with 24 points and a 6-4-4 (WLD) record overall. Individually, Tommy Mihalić leads the team with six goals, while Gavin Zambrano leads the team with four assists.
Notably, first team midfielder Matthew Arana and Dynamo Academy defender Brogan Fitzsimons were selected to represent the Club at the 2026 MLS NEXT All-Star Game, presented by Allstate, on Monday, July 27, at Mecklenburg County Sportsplex in Matthews, NC. Arana signed a Homegrown contract with the first team in February this year, while Fitzsimons plays with the Academy’s U-18s at the age of 15.
