HOUSTON (June 6, 2025) – Houston Dynamo 2 host Sporting Kansas City II on Saturday, June 7 at Shell Energy Stadium, marking their second match at the venue this year. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. CT, and fans can claim their free tickets to this match and every Dynamo 2 home game HERE.

The two sides met earlier this season in Houston, where Dos secured a 3-1 victory in their home opener at SaberCats Stadium. Midfielders Mattheo Dimareli and Sebastian Rodriguez each scored a goal, while several Dynamo Academy players made their professional debuts, including midfielder Noah Bentancourt, defender Miach Harris, defender Jayden Puna and forward Fadel Kone.

Notably, the result marked Marcelo Santos’ first victory as Dynamo 2 head coach.

Houston currently sits fifth in the Western Conference with 19 points and a 5-4-2 (WLD) record.

Dynamo 2 earned a 1-1 road draw versus in-state rivals Austin FC II last Friday and claimed the two points in the ensuing penalty shootout following two crucial saves by goalkeeper Pedro Cruz. Midfielder Lionel Gitau forced Houston’s lone goal of the match, whipping in a set piece delivery from the right side of the box that found the back of the net off an Austin II defender.

Notably, forward Tomás Romero made his MLS NEXT Pro debut during the match after signing with the team on May 30. The 20-year-old joins Dynamo Dos on loan from Club Atlético Unión in Argentina, where he spent most of his time with the club’s youth team, CA Unión II, in the Argentinian reserve league. He scored nine goals over 55 appearances, and most recently, the forward helped lead CA Unión II to this year’s Copa Túnel Subfluvial Final.

Just this week, Dynamo 2 announced the signings of Dynamo Academy product David Garcia and defender Juan Viveros. Garcia, a regular in the youth Venezuelan national team pool, joins Dos directly from the Club’s academy, where he began with the U-13 team in January 2021 and rose through the academy ranks to feature for Dynamo 2 several times last season. The forward made his professional debut at the age of 15, before going on to make 15 appearances (two starts) for Dynamo 2, while scoring his first professional goal in a 2-0 victory versus in-state rivals Austin FC II on July 11, 2024. Viveros joins Dynamo 2 on loan from Boca Juniors de Cali in Colombia, having recorded 51 appearances in Colombia’s second division, Categoría Primera B.

Kansas City II enters Saturday’s match at the bottom of the Western Conference standings with four points through 11 matches and is coming off a 4-1 loss to Colorado Rapids 2, with Nati Clarke scoring Kansas’ lone goal in the match.

Dynamo Dos next visit Minnesota United FC 2 on Thursday, June 12, with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m. CT. Fans can tune in to the live action via MLSNEXTPro.com.
