HOUSTON (Aug. 7, 2026) – Houston Dynamo 2 return to SaberCats Stadium to open a three-match homestand on Saturday, Aug. 8, hosting Real Monarchs for what is the second of two meetings this season. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. CT, and fans can secure their free tickets for the match HERE.
Dos, who were just named July’s Team of the Month for the second time this season, will look to extend their unbeaten home streak to start the season, which now stands at eight matches, the longest unbeaten home streak in team history.
Dynamo 2 hold the upper hand in the all-time series against Real Monarchs with a 6-1-1 (WLD) record in eight regular season meetings. Earlier this season, Houston earned a 1-0 shutout victory at the Real Salt Lake affiliate behind a goal from forward Jahmani "JJ" Bell and a seven-save performance from goalkeeper Pedro Cruz, which earned him MLS NEXT Pro Player of Matchday 7 honors. Cruz is currently on loan with El Paso Locomotive FC in the USL Championship.
Dos opened the 2026 season with a team-record 11-match unbeaten streak, where they recorded 31 points, 28 goals and 20 assists, while leading in fewest goals conceded in open play (four) during that span. All that was despite a league-record 10-match road trip that stretched from March to July due to DR Congo calling SaberCats home during the FIFA World Cup 2026™.
Houston is coming off just their fourth defeat of the season, falling 3-2 at Sporting Kansas City II on July 31. Forwards Arthur Sousa and Austin Brummett were the team's goalscorers, with Sousa tallying his third goal of the season and Brummett his ninth of the year. Notably, Dynamo 2 wrapped up the month of July with a 3-1-1 (WLD) record, including a three-match winning streak to begin the month.
Dynamo 2 currently sits third in the Western Conference with 42 points and a 12-4-3 (WLD) record. The team is also tied for fourth in goals scored (42), scoring at least one goal every match, while Brummett’s nine goals are tied for fifth in the league. Dos has also conceded the second fewest goals (19) across the league this season.
Real Monarchs finished July with a 1-2-1 (WLD) record and are coming off a 3-0 road loss to St. Louis CITY2 on Aug. 2. They currently sit 11th in the Western Conference table with 26 points and a 6-11-4 (WLD) record.
Just this week, Dynamo 2 signed 20-year-old Brazilian midfielder Vitor André on a free transfer from Brazilian top-flight’s SE Palmeiras. He arrives in Houston after progressing through the youth ranks of Brazilian soccer, making his mark with Ituano Fuetbol Clube (2021-22) and Série A giants SE Palmeiras (2022-26). André appeared in 12 matches for Ituano FC's academy, before becoming a regular for Palmeiras' U-17 and U-20 squads, totaling 75 appearances and four goals across both levels. The midfielder helped the club win the Campeonato Brasileiro U-17, Copa do Brasil U-17, Campeonato Paulista U-17, Campeonato Paulista U-20 and Campeonato Brasileiro U-20.
Last week, midfielder Matthew Arana and Dynamo Academy defender Brogan Fitzsimons participated in the 2026 MLS NEXT All-Star Game, presented by Allstate, on July 27, with both players earning nods in the starting lineup and playing the entire first half. In addition to the match, both players took part in gear hauls, All-Star photoshoots and other events throughout the week.
Bell returns from international duty after representing the Jamaica U-20 National Team at the 2026 Concacaf U-20 Championship in Mexico. He started every match for the Reggae Boyz during the tournament, helping them finish second in their group before bowing out in the quarterfinals versus Canada's U-20 team.
