HOUSTON (Sept. 20, 2026) – Houston Dynamo 2 close 2026 regular season on Sunday, Sept. 20, with a Decision Day matchup versus Sporting Kansas City II at SaberCats Stadium. This match is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. CT, and fans can secure free tickets via Tixr HERE.
Notably, Dynamo 2 have a chance to make history on Sunday, as a victory would set the team’s single-season wins record with 15. The current 14-win total ties the mark set during their inaugural 2022 season.
Houston has already clinched a spot in the **MLS NEXT Pro 2026 Playoffs**, securing their berth on Aug. 23 with a penalty shootout victory over St. Louis CITY2 on the road. Dos currently sits fourth with a 14-7-6 (W-L-D) record and 52 points and will look to finalize their position in the Western Conference standings, with a chance to move up to the third seed ahead of Ventura County FC.
Sunday will mark the third meeting between Dynamo 2 and Sporting II, with the two teams splitting their first two matches of the season. Houston took the first match back in April, defeating SKCII 2-1 behind a first-career MLS NEXT Pro brace from striker Austin Brummett and a six-save performance from goalkeeper Pedro Cruz, who is on loan with USL Championship team El Paso Locomotive FC. Notably, Dos leads the all-time series versus Kansas City II with a 7-4-1 (WLD) record.
Dynamo 2 enter Decision Day following a two-match week on the road versus in-state rivals North Texas SC. Houston won the first matchup on Sept. 9, earning a dramatic 3-2 comeback victory before playing to a scoreless draw four days later. Dos finished their season series against North Texas with a 2-0-1 (W-L-D) record.
Kansas City II is coming off a five-game losing streak, most recently falling 5-1 to LAFC2. They currently sit 13th in the Western Conference with 20 points and a 5-18-4 (W-L-D) record. Tega Ikoba leads the team’s attack with eight goals.
Dynamo 2 opened the 2026 season with a team-record 11-match unbeaten streak, where they recorded 31 points, 28 goals and 20 assists, while leading in fewest goals conceded in open play (four) during that span. All that was despite a league-record 10-match road trip that stretched from March to July due to DR Congo calling SaberCats home during the FIFA World Cup 2026™.
Houston also opened the season with a team record nine-match unbeaten streak, recording eight victories and one draw. The run included a four-match home winning streak to open the season, as well as a three-match home winning streak to begin July.
Additionally, Aug. 14 marked the first time Houston was held scoreless this campaign, ending a 20-match scoring streak in which the team found the back of the net at least once in every game.
