Trish Medellin served 20 years in the United States Air Force and retired from active duty in 2022 as a Technical Sergeant. On June 2, Medellin said she celebrated the one-year anniversary of being out of the Armed Forces.

The Baytown native served at different postings across the United States and globe, including six deployments in the Middle East including in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Qatar. Medellin primarily served as an Emergency Actions controller and was often responsible for gathering time sensitive information and making sure pertinent information was distributed to officials.

Medellin and her family live at a ranch outside of San Antonio. Medellin says here has been an adjustment in returning from a regimented environment to civilian life. Through her experience, Medellin is now working on creating a non-profit geared for Veterans to benefit from equine therapy. She hopes to help other veterans adjust and remind them that no matter the challenges and their experiences they are not alone.

Medellin will be honored as the Hero of the Game for the Houston Dash match against Orlando Pride. She says she is excited to return home to Houston and experience her first Houston Dash game. She says that her eight-year-old son is a big soccer fan and will be in attendance with her on Saturday night.
