Daniel Adams has been a fan of Houston Dynamo FC since before the team kicked a ball in their inaugural 2006 season.
“We also became Season Ticket Members six years ago because we are a big soccer family,” Adams, who has lived in Houston for 33 years, said. “The prices were great, and the perks are amazing, including discounts on concessions from some of our favorite local vendors.”
Adams said one of his favorite childhood soccer memories was attending a Texas A&M University soccer camp with his friends, which sparked his love for the sport. When it comes to a favorite Dynamo memory, his mind goes directly to one match.
“My favorite memory as a fan was definitely winning the semifinal of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in a penalty shootout over LAFC in 2018,” Adams said.
That victory ultimately resulted in the Dynamo capturing the Club’s first tournament title and third domestic championship with a 3-0 victory over the Philadelphia Union on September 26, 2018, at BBVA Compass Stadium (now Shell Energy Stadium).
A key member of that championship team was midfielder Oscar Boniek Garcia, who will be honored in a special pregame ceremony before Saturday’s match. He led the team to three conference finals, the MLS Cup final in 2012 and won the 2018 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. Garcia patrolled the midfield at Shell Energy Stadium for 10 seasons and finished with 13 goals and 39 assists across 235 MLS matches. He retired in his native Honduras earlier this year after winning the Clausura title with Club Olimpia.
“I hope more and more people will continue to attend Dynamo games because the fan experience is amazing,” Adams, who also enjoys playing disc golf during the summer, said.
If Adams could plan one theme night at Shell Energy Stadium, there is no doubting what he would select.
“Texan,” Adams said.
