Houston Dynamo 2 signed midfielder Paolo Ríos to an MLS NEXT Pro professional contract, the team announced today. The 22-year-old central midfielder comes to Dynamo 2 from Club América in Mexico’s Liga MX BBVA.

“We are looking forward to Paolo joining Houston Dynamo 2,” Houston Dynamo FC assistant general manager and director of soccer operations Nick Kowba said. “The purpose of the second team is to provide a pathway for high potential players to launch their professional careers. Paolo had an impressive youth career at Club America and we look forward to him continuing his development in our professional environment.”

Ríos, a native of Mexico City, has been with Club América since 2018. Since joining the team, Ríos has played at both the under-17 and under-20 levels. He made one appearance with América’s first team, entering as a substitute in the 46th minute against Atlas on Aug. 30, 2019. The midfielder captained their U2-0 team to a Liga MX U-20 Clausura Championship in 2022.

Dynamo 2 are currently 11-4-4 and in third place in the Western Conference standings with 39 points.
