The Houston Dash will seek a club-record seventh victory of the season as they host the two-time NWSL Champion FC Kansas City on Sunday for the club’s inaugural 90’s Night.

Houston returns to BBVA Compass Stadium after a 2-1 defeat to Portland in the Pacific Northwest last Saturday. Carli Lloyd returned from national team duty to start a match just 48 hours after completing a shift for the USWNT. Lloyd converted a penalty kick in the first half for her second goal of the season. Lloyd, Jane Campbell, Andressinha and Bruna Benites returned last weekend after participating in the inaugural Tournament of Nations.

Kansas City ended a four-game losing streak last weekend with a 2-2 draw against the Boston Breakers. With the draw, FCKC secured its fifth point on the road this season after defeating the Washington Spirit in May and holding Seattle to a 1-1 draw in June.

This will be the first game back for FCKC’s captain Becky Sauerbrunn and forward Sydney Leroux, both of whom missed the game in Boston due to their participation in the Tournament of Nations.

Despite the loss last weekend, the Dash remain in the thick of the NWSL playoff chase, just four points out of fourth place heading into this week’s round of games. With wins in three of their last five outings, including their last two home games, the Dash will look to keep their positive momentum going in front of the Forever Orange faithful tonight.

Houston won the first encounter between both clubs 2-1 with goals from forwards Rachel Daly and Nichelle Prince on July 2. With a victory Houston could improve its record against FCKC to 4-4-2. Both teams will meet at the end of the regular season on Sept. 29 at Swope Soccer Village.
