Houston Dynamo protect 11 players ahead of 2017 MLS Expansion Draft

The Houston Dynamo have officially protected 11 players in advance of Tuesday's MLS Expansion Draft, the club announced today. By protecting the players, they cannot be selected by Los Angeles Football Club, Major League Soccer's newest team. The Expansion Draft is scheduled for Tuesday, December 12 at 1 p.m. CT.

Additionally, Tyler Deric, Christian Lucatero and Memo Rodriguez are classified as Homegrown Players and are not eligible for selection, and did not have to be included on the list of protected players.


LAFC may select up to five players from the eligible MLS player pool in Tuesday's draft. Only a single player can be drafted from any one club. In the 2016 MLS Expansion Draft, midfielder Collen Warner was selected from the Dynamo by Minnesota United FC.
