Houston Dynamo, Statoil announce Founding Partnership

The Houston Dynamo and Statoil have reached a long-term sponsorship agreement that will make Statoil a founding partner of BBVA Compass Stadium and the official oil and gas partner of the Houston Dynamo.

As part of the partnership, Statoil will host an Oil and Gas Technology HUB at BBVA Compass Stadium. Furthermore, the northeast entrance of BBVA Compass Stadium is named the Statoil Gate.

“We are thrilled to announce Statoil as our eighth founding partner for BBVA Compass Stadium,” said Dynamo Executive Vice-President Steven Powell. “Both of our organizations share a strong sense of community and are committed to helping people reach their greatest potential. Statoil’s commitment to this goal includes a title sponsorship of our youth development system which has provided an opportunity for four players from the Houston area to earn professional soccer contracts.”

“Statoil has had a partnership with the Houston Dynamo since 2008 and we are proud to continue this partnership as the club moves into its new stadium,” said Ola Morten Aanestad, Vice President Communications, Development and Production North America for Statoil. “Whether in sports, culture or science, Statoil wants to support talents and great achievements. We know that the thousands who will enter the stadium through the Statoil gate will enjoy great performances on the pitch, and we hope that our company in some small way will also be associated with those good moments.”
