RGV FC travel to California after South Texas Derby victory

RGV FC vs Orange County SC Preview

The Rio Grande Valley FC Toros travel west this Saturday to face Orange County SC as they look to build on last weekend’s South Texas Derby victory at H-E-B Park.

Michael Salazar scored a brace last Saturday as he led RGV to a 3-1 victory over San Antonio. Salazar was named to the USL Championship Team of the Week after his performance against San Antonio and he leads the team in goals with seven. The forward averages a goal every 90 minutes after logging 627 minutes with the Toros in 10 games.

A goal on Saturday would give Salazar the RGV FC single-season scoring record. The Belize international will not miss the next stretch of games as Belize just missed qualifying for the Gold Cup by three points.

RGV will also look to Jamaican international Maalique Foster and Jesus Enriquez for additional firepower as they face an Orange County squad that defensively ranks in the bottom third of the league.

Orange County have conceded 19 goals so far and have one victory in their last five games. Orange County have had success at Championship Soccer Stadium as they enter Saturday’s game with a 3-1-2 record at home.

Orange County will look to former Dynamo defender Leonardo to anchor the backline on Saturday. The Brazilian defender has appeared in six games for Orange County this season. Offensively, Aodhan Quinn and Darwin Jones have combined for 10 goals this season and will lead the charge for Braeden Cloutier’s squad.

Kickoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. CT and the match will be streamed live on ESPN +.
