Houston Dynamo 2 named MLS NEXT Pro Team of Matchweek 18

HOUSTON (July 8, 2026) – Houston Dynamo 2 was named the MLS NEXT Pro Team for Matchweek 18, the league announced today. This marks the third such honor for Dos this season, who also were selected as the standout team for Matchweek 3 and Matchweek 10.

Dynamo 2 currently sit second in the Western Conference standings with a 10-3-2 (WLD) record.

Dynamo 2 earned a dominant 4-0 shutout victory over Minnesota United FC 2 at Shell Energy Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The match was highlighted by a standout performance from defender Reese Miller, who registered his second goal and second assist of the season. Goalkeeper Logan Erb recorded his first clean sheet of the season, the team’s seventh shutout of the year, while defender Brogan Fitzsimons made his professional debut after coming on as a substitute in the 79th minute.

Houston took the lead in the 35th minute following a stunning individual play from forward Alan Martins. The young Brazilian received the ball on the right flank and dribbled towards the box before quickly changing direction to his right and firing a right-footed missile into far post for his first professional goal. The play also marked midfielder Noah Betancourt’s first assist of the season.

Forward Jahmani “JJ” Bell extended Houston’s lead in the 41st minute after converting a penalty kick, calmly finding the bottom left corner. The penalty was earned when midfielder Gustavo Dohmann was deemed to have been fouled inside the box.

Dos extended their lead to three when Miller found the inside of the near post following a long ball from defender Isaac Mwakutuya. The play marked Mwakutuya’s second assist of the year.

Striker Austin Brummett scored Houston’s fourth and final goal of the match in the 81st minute, beating the Minnesota goalkeeper in one-on-one situation to notch his eighth goal of the season.
