HOUSTON (June 11, 2025) – Houston Dynamo 2 kick off a four-match road stretch at Minnesota United FC 2 on Thursday, June 12, with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m. CT at National Sports Center Stadium. Dynamo Dos has the upper hand in the all-time series against Minnesota United 2, with six wins, two draws and one loss. In 2024, Houston took all three games, winning two at home and one on the road. Notably, Dynamo 2 scored three or more goals in each of their three matchups against Minnesota last season, including a 4-1 home victory on August 21 and a 3-1 home victory the week after. Forward Gabe Segal played a key role in both games, scoring three goals in the two matches.
One lineup note for Thursday’s fixture is that midfielder Lionel Gitau will miss the match after receiving two yellow cards in Houston’s recent match versus Sporting Kansas City II.
Dynamo 2 currently sits fifth in the Western Conference with 21 points and a 5-4-3 (WLD) record.
Dos earned a 1-1 draw versus Sporting Kansas City II at Shell Energy Stadium in their most recent match and claimed the two points following a key save from goalkeeper Pedro Cruz. Dynamo 2 debutant defender Juan Viveros scored the fifth and final penalty kick to secure Houston’s third shootout victory of the season. Forward Stephen Annor scored Dos’ lone goal of the match, while midfielder Enrique Correa recorded his first professional assist on the play. Notably, the match saw forward Tomás Romero make his first start for Dynamo 2 after making his MLS NEXT Pro debut on May 30 during a 1-1 draw versus Austin FC II.
Last week, Dynamo 2 announced the signings of Dynamo Academy product David Garcia and Viveros. Garcia, a regular in the youth Venezuelan national team pool, joins Dos directly from the Club’s academy, where he began with the U-13 team in January 2021 and rose through the academy ranks to feature for Dynamo 2 several times last season. The forward made his professional debut at the age of 15, before going on to make 15 appearances (two starts) for Dynamo 2, while scoring his first professional goal in a 2-0 victory versus in-state rivals Austin FC II on July 11, 2024. Viveros joins Dynamo 2 on loan from Boca Juniors de Cali in Colombia, having recorded 51 appearances in Colombia’s second division, Categoría Primera B.
MNFC2 enters Thursday’s match with a 0-3-2 (WLD) record over their last five games, having ended May with a1-1 draw versus Tacoma Defiance. Luke Hille scored Minnesota’s only goal in that match, before the team ultimately fell 4-3 in a penalty shootout. They currently sit 11th in the Western Conference with 14 points and a 4-3-2 (WLD) overall record. Both Logan Dorsey and Darius Randell lead the team’s attack with three goals each.
Houston next travels to face Real Monarchs on Sunday, June 15, at Zions Bank Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 8:30 p.m. CT. Dynamo 2 fans can follow the action live via MLSNEXTPro.com.
