In their first matchup this year, Dynamo Dos earned a 2-1 home victory on April 27, with goals from forward Exon Arzú and midfielder Enrique Correa. The two sides met again on May 30, where Dynamo 2 drew 1-1 on the road and claimed the two points in the ensuing penalty shootout following two crucial saves by goalkeeper Pedro Cruz. Midfielder Lionel Gitau forced Houston’s lone goal of the match, and forward Tomás Romero made his MLS NEXT Pro debut that night.

Dynamo Dos currently sit eighth in the Western Conference with 25 points and a 6-8-4 (WLD) record.

The Dynamo are coming off a 4-2 home loss to Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 at SaberCats Stadium. Midfielder Mattheo Dimareli scored his second goal of the season, while forward David Garcia tallied his first of the year. Despite the result, the match did see defender Isaac Mwakutuya record his first professional assist and defender Juan Viveros notch his first assist in MLS NEXT Pro, while first-team midfielder Erik Dueñas made his first appearance for Dynamo Dos.

Notably, the Club had two players represent Houston at MLS All-Star Week in Austin, Texas this week. Dynamo Academy product Daniel Barrett played 45 minutes and wore the captain armband for the West in the MLS NEXT All-Star Game, presented by Allstate, at Parmer Field on Monday night, while goalkeeper Pedro Cruz earned the 2025 Goalie Wars title on Tuesday night during the MLS All-Star Skills Challenge, presented by AT&T, at Q2 Stadium.

Austin II will enter Friday’s match sitting one spot behind Houston in the Western Conference with 25 points and a 5-5-7 (WLD) record.
