The National Women’s Soccer League announced today that forward Ebony Salmon was named the NWSL Player of the Month and was named to the Best XI of the Month, presented by Mastercard.

Salmon earned the honors after scoring four goals in four games, including the second hat trick in club history. Salmon joins Rachel Daly in 2018 and Carli Lloyd in 2015 as the only players to earn the honors while representing the Dash.

On Sunday, Salmon and the Dash earned three points on the road against NJ/NY Gotham FC. Salmon successfully converted her first NWSL penalty kick attempt after Houston was awarded a foul in the box late in the second half.

Best XI

Salmon’s breakout game came on July 16 as the Dash faced the Chicago Red Stars. The 21-year-old forward scored three goals in the 4-1 win to notch her first career hat trick and become the youngest player in NWSL history to score three goals in a game. Two of the three hat tricks scored in the NWSL this season belong to Houston. Salmon joined teammate Nichelle Prince, who scored the first-ever career hat trick on June 3, as the third pair of teammates to score a hat trick in the same season.

The Birmingham, England native joined the Dash in June after being acquired via trade from Racing Louisville FC and made her Dash debut on July 1 against Kansas City. The second-year NWSL player led Louisville in scoring last season with six goals.

Salmon and the Dash travel to the Pacific Northwest for a second time this season to take on OL Reign on Aug. 7. Kickoff is set for 5:00 p.m. CT and the game will air locally on AT&T SportsNet Southwest. The match will also stream live nationally on Paramount+ and internationally on Twitch. The Dash return to PNC Stadium on Friday, August 12 when they host Racing Louisville FC. Tickets are available here.
