Houston Dash acquire forward Ebony Salmon from Racing Louisville FC

The Houston Dash have acquired forward Ebony Salmon in a trade with Racing Louisville FC, the clubs announced today. Houston will send Louisville $150,000 in allocation money for 2022, $25,000 in 2023 allocation money and the trade includes $15,000 in performance-based incentives for the 2022 NWSL regular season.

Additionally, Salmon signed a contract extension with the Dash through the 2023 season. The forward will be available for selection for Houston’s match against Kansas City on Friday, July 1 at PNC Stadium following the FIFA international break. Tickets are available here.

The Birmingham, England native made five regular season appearances for Louisville this year. Salmon finished with four appearances and two starts in the 2022 NWSL Challenge Cup for Louisville.

The 21-year-old made her NWSL debut in 2021 against the Dash almost a year to the day. Salmon scored the game winner for Louisville after coming on as a substitute in the 71st minute. Salmon started 14 of the 20 games for Racing Louisville FC during the 2021 season after joining in mid-May and led the team in scoring with six goals.

Before joining the NWSL, Salmon played for Bristol City from 2019-2021 where she made 34 appearances and scored 11 goals. Salmon led the team in scoring during the 2019-2020 season and helped the club avoid relegation. Salmon spent three years in the Aston Villa academy and joined the first team in 2017. She scored seven goals in the FA Women’s Super League 2 during the 2017-2018 season.

Salmon made her England Women’s National Team debut in March of 2021 as a substitute against Northern Ireland. Salmon had been a mainstay in the England youth national team at the U-17 and U-19 levels.
